Mai Chau is a wonderful collection of farms, villages and stilt houses surrounded by verdant rice paddies against a backdrop of steep limestone cliffs. Mai Chau is the closest from Hanoi where you can meet ethnic minorities: Muong and Thai people. Mai Chau is all fresh air and tranquility.

It is populated mostly by the White Tai tribe. The villagers of Ban Lac, Pom coong in Mai Chau open their thatched roofs stilt houses to travelers for rustic overnight stays, and often perform the dances and songs for which they are reknown during an evening where guests are invited to drink with long straws an alcoholic beverage called Ruou Can.

Rise early for a walk and enjoy the picturesque view of Mai Chau, watch the farmers doing their works on the rice fields...

Explore the area by trekking or biking through the countryside, boating to visit a poor village near Maichau, which we funded to build a small school for the kids and a house for the poorest family, make contact with the villagers, give small things like books, pens, bags… for the kids. Just small stuffs but they'll appreciate your kindness very much. The reward for the kind people are their angel smiles.

At night, enjoy the Thai dance. The performance are dances and songs to describe the life of the farmers, seasons of a rice growing year like when they sow the rice seeds until the harvest season, their happiness with the productive season, their hopes, their wishes...

The end of the performance is always the bamboo dance which audiences are invited to join with the dancers followed with traditional cereal wine (taste like very light and sweet wine) as a good-bye for the show.
